The cap base of a full lace wig or lace wig is lace wig is constructed mostly with lace.
Lace is a sheer, featherweight type material that is breathable and fine to the touch.
There are two types of lace used to make the cap base of full lace wigs and lace wigs. One is called French lace and the other is called Swiss lace.
What is the difference between French and Swiss Lace?
French lace is commonly known in the hair replacement industry as being more durable and undetectable.
Swiss lace is slightly thinner/finer and a little less detectable than French lace, almost invisible.
However Swiss lace is definitely more fragile to handle, less durable than French lace and rips very easily.
It is quite hard to tell the difference between the two types of laces. Both types of lace are barely visible to the naked eye. Most people order the French Lace since it is a bit stronger and therefore more tear resistant as Swiss lace.
NOTICE: Swiss Lace is not recommended for first time users but rather to advanced lace wig wearers or professional wig specialists. It is best to learn how to apply a lace wig and become skilled at its application prior to use a hair unit that has a Swiss Lace cap base.
For optimal aesthetic results the wig cap base lace must match the wig wearer’s skin tone as close as possible.
Therefore French lace and Swiss lace come in different colors.
Transparent, light Brown, Brown aka. Medium Brown and dark brown are the basic available lace colors.
Guide to Choose the Lace Color of a Full Lace Wig or Lace Wig Cap Base:
IMPORTANT: Make sure to compare the SCALP color tone to the color of the LACE- not the overall wig wearer's SKIN TONE
NOTE TO HAIR LOSS CUSTOMERS ONLY:
If you have NO HAIR or even if you have medium to heavy hair loss, the lace base of the hair unit will be sitting directly on top of your partial or full hairless scalp. You may want to choose a transparent lace, as it will pick up on your natural scalp skin tone, and if your complexion is very brown or a very dark complexion, choose the light brown lace as it will match better your scalp .
