Preparing your Full Lace Wig or Lace Wig for Application:

a)- Clip all hair and baby hair away from the edge of the hair unit. This will prevent the hair from getting stuck in the bonding adhesive(s) when applying your wig.

b)- Cautiously cut the lace around the entire hairline of the full lace wig or lace wig. You may cut some or even all the lace off but beginners or first timers, must leave a little more of  lace (1/2"), so that it will be easier to attach to your chosen bonding system (skin grade glue and/or tape)

(TIP): When you have completed cutting the lace around the entire perimeter of your hairpiece, you may want to spray some “Fray Block” product on the edge of the lace to prevent it from fraying. (Please be sure to use this product sparingly, because it can turn white if you use too much of it.)

Preparing Skin and own Hair for  Lace Wig Application:

a)- Wash, condition and dry your own hair. After your hair is completely dried, braid it in small cornrows, or tightly wrap your it on the top of your head for a flat look.

b)-  Use alcohol 99% on a cotton pad and rub it around your entire hairline, to remove any oil residue that may be on your skin.

(TIP): Apply scalp protector aka skin shield product, to protect your skin from the adhesives. Doing so will provide a healthy barrier between your skin and the adhesives. (This step is very important for those who workout, swim or those with sensitive skin.)

(TIP): To protect your  own hair, put on a flesh-toned wig cap, and line it up with your hairline, so that, your own hair is completely covered. Doing so will provide a protective layer for your own hair, and will also create a scalp illusion. Also make sure that the wig cap is pulled closed to your hairline. To prevent the wig cap from slipping, allow the glue and/or tape used to attached your hair unit, to overlap onto the nylon stocking wig cap or loosely stitch the cap in place.

Lace Wig Application using Liquid Adhesives

a)- Apply with a small flat wooden cosmetic stick or a small make-up brush, a thin coat of skin grade liquid adhesive (glue) around the perimeter of your hairline.
Apply bond in several  thin layers, and always wait for prior layer to dry, before adding another coat of liquid adhesive.
First the soft bond adhesives (I.e.: Vapon No-Tape, Ultra-Hold and Invisi-bond) must dry or get tacky to the touch . To help speed up the drying time, you mayuse a hand held blow-dryer, set on cool/warm setting until the bonding agent is dry or tacky.

(TIP): a)- DoNOT bond your the lace of your hair unit to wet glue, as it  will not stick well.
Hard bond adhesives (I.e.: Endura-bond, Dermabond and Base bond) do NOT require any drying time, since they dry immediately after being applied, therefore this type of liquid glue is not recommended to beginners or first timers.

b)- Before applying the liquid adhesive (skin grade glue), you must first position the hair unit on your hea in order to make sure it will aligned properly. Also you must start with the lace bonding process at the center of your front hairline first.  Then progress to one side toward your temple the do the same to the other side, pressing fermely on the edge of the lace down into the bond and using from time to time, a fine tooth comb, to comb the hair and the baby hair back.
(TIP): Should an error occur, while bonding the lace of your full lace wig or lace wig to the adhesive, use a Q-Tip dabbed in some alcohol 99%, and rub it between the lace and your skin to release the lace from its bond, then  reapply a thin layer of liquid adhesive, w ait until the are is dry and tacky to the touch and re-adjust the lace the right way.

Double check all around your hairline for some lace part that is not well bonded and touch-up any areas where the lace of your hairpiece is not securely bonded. Should you need to remove any excess of liquid adhesive( glue residue) use a Q-Tip dabbed in some alcohol 99% as solvent.

c)- When you have completed the bonding application process around the all perimeter of your hairline, tie it down securely with a silk or satin scarf. This will allow the bonding agent to set and dry properly to the lace of your hair unit.

(TIP): You may also use a hair dryer for 5-10 minutes, set on cool, to aide in the drying process.

NOTE: Should you  use a skin grade tape and liquid adhesive combination, the liquid adhesive (glue) should go on your skin and the tape should go on the lace. This will actually protect the lace from the wear and tear of the liquid bond.

Lace Wig Application using Skin Grade Bonding Tape

a)- Make sure your skin, your own hair and the lace of the wig are clean and dry. Follow the same above steps from the  “Preparing Skin and own Hair for Application” instructions.

b)- Cut the DOUBLE SIDED TAPE (i.e Air-Flex Strong Hold Tape) that is specially designed for full lace wigs and lace wigs, into the desired lengths.

c)- Then, peel off the protective paper from the upper side of the double-sided tape and apply the bonding sidealong the perimeter of your hairline. Press firmly on the tape to secure it into place.

(NOTE): You should always leave small spaces between the bonding tape strips, to allow water and/or sweat to escape, specially if you wear your full lace wig or lace wig, for extended periods of time.

d)- Position your wig on your head, and starting at the center of front hairline, proceed to bond the lace or your hairpice to the tape moving toward the side to one temple area, then do the same to the  the other side, pressing firmly down on the lace to set the bonding in place, one section at the time, and using a fine tooth comb to keep hair and baby hair clear from the bonding areas.

e)- When you have completed the lace bonding application process, tie down your hairline with a silk or satin scarf. This will allow the bonding agent of the tape to set and dry properly. You may also sit under a dryer during this step to aide in the drying process.

Removal of Your full Lace Wig or Lace Wig:

To remove your full lace wig or lace wig, simply follow those easy steps:

a)-  Spread and saturate the glued areas located on the lace part of your hair unit with an adhesive remover solution specially designed for lace wig.   .

b)-  Wait for the lace to easily release itself from your skin. You may want to use a Q-Tip to apply the adhesive remover/solvent solution between the lace and your skin for removal  better results

(NOTE)It is very important to allow the adhesive remover solution to completely saturate the glued areas to release completely the lace from the skin prior to trying to remove the hairpiece. This will preserve the lace on your hair unit and protect the skin of your hairline. Do take your time while doing this as patience is the key to a succesful removal process.c)- Use the adhesive remover/solvent to clean the adhesive from your skin.

d)- Wash thouroughly the lace of your hair unit in order to remove any glue residue that might be on the lace and shampoo the hair of the wig with a wig shampo (i.e Vapon Wig Care Shampoo). You may apply a condition designed for dry hair to the hair of your full lace wig or lace wig, and after is has set, rince the hair pice thorughly with lukewarm water and hair dry it. When your hairpiece is completely dry, turn the cap base inside out and apply a knot sealer solution in order to tighten any hair strand knots that may have loosen up. This will prolong the life of your full lace wig or lace wig by avoiding excessive shedding.
