The thin skin part of the wig cap is ventilated by hand, using a looping technique so that each hair stays secure longer. Because each hair strand is not knotted but injected into the thin skin material, there are no knots needed and hair appears to be growing right out of the skin’s scalp.

Thin skin material is available in several colors to match one’s skin tone, and can be applied either on a top of a lace wig cap (thin skin top), or around the perimeter of a full lace wig or even over the entire cap of a hair unit.

Since polyurethane materials can accommodate any kind of bonding agents (like skin grade glue or medical grade tape), thin skin can be attached with any type of those  adhesives if one choose to, for added security.

What is a thin skin top full lace wig?

A thin skin top full lace wig is a full lace wig that have a top made of a blend of thin translucent polyurethane materials also known as thin skin, that is placed on the inside of the lace cap of a lace hair unit, to produce the appearance of the skin of a scalp.

 Thin-skin placed around the entire perimeter of a full lace wig is also a popular choice because it gives a more natural hairline appearance than that of a regular lace wig, which sometimes allows adhesives (glue, tapes) to shine through the lace along the hairline.

Full thin skin wigs are a great alternative for those suffering from extreme hair loss, as thin skin feels almost like it is vacuum-sealed to one’s scalp when installed and lays snug as if  wearing a swim cap, and therefore feels very secure to the wearer.

Full thin-skin hair units in this case have a more secure fit on bald or partially bald wearers than traditional lace wigs because they adhere entirely to the whole surface of the scalp. Other people who choose a thin skin wig cap typically have allergies to lace or/and to adhesives (skin grade glue or tape).

 However since thin skin is not made of breathable materials, it is best to use a full thin skin wig in cooler, dry climates.
